Warehouse faults look small and cost a lot: a scanner that drops at the back of aisle 12, a label that will not scan at the customer's dock, a packing PC full of dust. We fix most of it remotely, we survey and fix the Wi-Fi properly, and we visit the same day when a printer or scanner has to be replaced.
Problems we fix in warehouses every week
- Handheld scanners losing Wi-Fi between the racks. Metal racking and full shelves block signal, so the scanner drops exactly where the stock is. We survey the floor with the shelves full, place access points along the aisles and set the scanners to roam without dropping.
- Labels that do not scan. Faded print, the wrong barcode size, a printhead past its life. A label that fails at the customer's dock is a returned pallet. We calibrate the printers, set the right label templates and replace heads on a schedule.
- Stock on the system not matching the shelf. Scans that never posted because the device was offline, or a sync between the handhelds and the ERP that runs late. We fix the connection and the sync so the count on screen is the count on the shelf.
- Packing station PC dead from dust and heat. Open warehouses are hard on computers. We fit filtered or sealed PCs at the packing and loading stations and clean the rest on a schedule.
- Scanner guns that nobody can configure. A new scanner that beeps but does not type into the system, or one reset to factory settings. We configure and label every device and keep the settings so a replacement takes minutes.
- Loading bay with no network. The dock office and the gate are always the last places the cable reached. We run cabling and outdoor access points so the dispatch PC and the driver check-in work where the trucks are.
- CCTV recorder full or unreachable. Camera footage that stopped recording weeks ago. We put the recorder on the network properly, size the storage and check it on each visit.
What we set up and look after in a warehouse
- Rugged handheld scanners. Zebra, Honeywell and similar handhelds and ring scanners, configured for your stock system, labelled and tracked, with spares on site for larger floors.
- Label and barcode printers. Industrial label printers at receiving and packing, label templates that match your ERP, and a consumables schedule so nobody runs out on a Thursday.
- Warehouse Wi-Fi. A site survey with the racks full, access points along the aisles and in the yard, and roaming that works on a forklift at speed.
- Stock system link. The connection between the handhelds, the printers and your WMS or ERP, tested on a real receive, pick and dispatch.
- Floor PCs and screens. Dust-protected PCs at packing, receiving and the dock office, with screens that can be read in daylight.
- Cabling, power and cameras. Cabling to every station, UPS on the switch and the server, and the CCTV recorder on its own part of the network.
How fast we respond when dispatch stops
A stopped dispatch is top priority. An engineer replies within 5 minutes and most scanner, printer and sync faults are fixed remotely in about 15 minutes, while pickers carry on with paper if they have to.
When a device has to be replaced, we visit the same day with a configured spare. Wi-Fi surveys and access point installs are planned for the quiet part of the week, and we test with a loaded forklift before we leave.
Questions warehouse managers ask us
Why do the scanners drop at the back of the warehouse?
Metal racks and full shelves soak up signal, so an access point by the office cannot reach aisle 12. A survey with the shelves full shows exactly where coverage fails, and access points along the aisles fix it.
Can you make our labels scan first time?
Yes. Most failures are print quality, barcode size or the wrong symbology. We set the templates in the printer and the ERP, check print density and replace worn printheads before they fail.
Can you connect scanners to our ERP?
We configure the handhelds and the printers to work with the stock system you use and test a real receive, pick and dispatch. Changes inside the ERP itself are done with your vendor, and we work alongside them.
Do you supply the scanners and printers?
Yes. We recommend models within your budget, supply them configured and labelled, and handle the warranty claims.
The services behind warehouse IT and barcode support
Warehouse work draws on network installation in Madinah for Wi-Fi between the racks, printer maintenance and repair in Madinah for label printers, and IT hardware supply in Madinah for scanners and floor PCs.
